Tantalus Books

Tantalus Books is an independent publishing company specialising in the translation of the works of major contemporary dramatists and leading theatre practitioners from Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
In 2005, we started a new series - “GREAT DIRECTORS” - dedicated to the writings of key directors in contemporary theatre and the documentation of their artistic legacy. First in the series was the book of Lev Dodin, Artistic Director of the Maly Drama Theatre of St. Petersburg, JOUDNEY WITHOUT END – Reflections and Memoirs.

Our "COLLECTONS"  series advance the publication and production of contemporary European drama in the UK and promote the diversity and strength of rarely translated and lesser known theatre cultures.

We collaborate with the best writers and translators and work tirelessly with our associate company Gologan Productions to develop the best of these plays and bring them to the London stage. Our publications are an important contribution towards a livelier and more diverse theatre scene in the UK.
